Overground festival back after funding success
The 7th Crystal Palace Overground Festival, 27 – 30 June, has been awarded £8,365 by the Big Lottery Fund which is a huge contribution saving the event from funding disaster. The grant will help towards the costs of the event, including infrastructure and volunteers.
This will be the 3rd time the event has been staged at Westow Park as well as around the Upper Norwood triangle area.
This year the festival on Thursday 27 June – Sunday 30 June will feature performing arts, crafts, holistic, sports and kids’ activities, gourmet food and drink stalls and the best local bands on the outdoor music stage in Westow Park. Fringe events will be held around Crystal Palace in the run up to the big festival weekend.
Sunday 30 June is dedicated to the local independent traders with an arts trail, stalls, tastings, workshops, poetry, gigs and DJs around the Upper Norwood Triangle, with shopping and music throughout the day.
As well as financial aid from the Big Lottery Fund, the festival is also supported by local businesses.
Festival director, Noreen Meehan, said: “The festival is returning bigger and better than ever thanks to this funding from the Big Lottery, with additional support from local businesses.
“We are mega excited about the range and diversity of the events the festival programme has on offer – this really couldn’t have been achieved without Big Lottery support.
“Roll on Thursday!”
