The Sunday Assembly comes to the historic, vibrant Crystal Palace on Saturday 30th November, (yes, you read correctly – we’re having our first Sunday Assembly on a Saturday – so founder Sanderson Jones can come and support us before he runs the main event in central London the next day.) We hope to set up a monthly home here – where better to have a non-religious community than surrounded by those Victorian scientific pioneers, the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs?

What is The Sunday Assembly? In the words of founder and stand-up comedian Sanderson Jones “We started in London in January 2013 and we accidentally became a movement.” Answering a need for non-religious people to share in a community event, The Sunday Assembly is a godless congregation that meets to hear great talks, sing songs and generally celebrate the wonder of life. It’s a service for anyone who wants to live better, help often and wonder more. There are Sunday Assemblies starting across the UK and abroad, with established Assemblies in Exeter, Bristol, Melbourne, and New York.

And now, hopefully, Crystal Palace. But it all depends on your support! If you’re interested in a rapidly growing movement of non-religious communities coming together to meet, laugh, discuss and sing, then come along to find out more. The event is entirely free, and you’ll be guaranteed food for thought, a singalong to clear out the cobwebs, and the company of like-minded locals.

We’re also looking for a few volunteers to help organize the event – please contact Elliot Russo on russo.elliot@gmail.com if you are a musician, a technician, a marketing guru able to mobilize a local community, or able to shift a few chairs at the end. We look forward to hearing from you!
