Lambeth Country Show 2001 by Lucy Smith

The Lambeth Country Show is held every July at Brockwell Park (nearest station Herne Hill). This year there was a mock English Civil War with horses and guns, craft stalls, motorbike displays and a Shetland Pony Grand National. There were many community stalls, a beer tent, fun fair and food from across the world including Caribbean, Thai and Chinese. There was less livestock than last year due to the foot and mouth crisis but the Vauxhall Farm had a tent with ducks, hens, rabbits and donkeys. There were also opportunities to buy plants, flowers and home made jams.

Music was also the highlight of the weekend with reggae and roots bands playing live. Thousands of people turned out as the weather was perfect, apart from some slight showers on Sunday.
