Things to do in Norwood in the new year
With the new year upon us, it’s all too easy to fall into a rut when deciding what to do with your free time. This isn’t helped by the long, dark nights, as well as the fact that your physical and mental batteries might be somewhat drained by the past festive season!
But fear not, as there are a great range of activities available on your doorstep in the next month, and here we’ve gathered a few of January’s highlights for the Norwood area.
Keeping fit
After all those tasty festive treats, many of us will be feeling the urge to shed a few pounds and get back in shape.
Thankfully there are some great options nearby such as the weekly pilates classes at West Norwood Library. These classes take place every Wednesday at 1.30pm and promise to instruct you in a range of exercises developed to improve posture, balance and overall muscle structure.
Plus, if you fancy getting a little bit of latent aggression out whilst keeping trim, then head to Nettlefold Hall on Tuesdays at 6.15pm where a series of karate classes will promise to shake off the cobwebs and introduce you to the fascinating world of martial arts.
Home activities
Of course, some of us may feel financially stretched in January with all of the festive spending. So if you’re homebound then fear not as there are some great deals online.
Film buffs will be delighted to know that Netflix is offering its 30 day free trial again with hundreds of films and television shows at your disposal. And there are also some great special offers available from Betsafe for those who fancy a bit of gaming fun!
Culture
If you would like to expand your grey matter in 2015, then a good place to start might be to pay a visit to West Norwood Book Club. The club meets up at 7pm on Tuesday 27th January at West Norwood library. Every month they provide a specially chosen book which is then discussed at length. Perfect for curling up with on a winter’s night!
Slightly further afield is the famous Hideaway Jazz Club that is offering some great highlights in January. Not least the legendary soul and R&B singer Jocelyn Brown who performs a string of hits on Saturday 10th January.
Or if country music is more your thing, then maybe we can interest you in some line dancing classes? If so, then head down to Nettlefold Hall on Tuedays at 3.30pm and put a bit of country swing in your step!
